During initial use, they may shed some fibers due to the cutting process, but this will decrease with a few vacuumings and will eventually stop completely. The product may have a slight odor when first opened due to being packed in a vacuum-sealed bag during shipping; this odor can be eliminated by airing it out for a few days.
